Police in the North Kyoga region have arrested a senior investigations officer from Kole District following accusations that he tried to sexually assault a 19-year-old student.
The accused, Dickens Louis Ebong, works as the Officer in Charge of CID in Kole. Authorities say he tricked the student, who attends Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School, into coming to his home at the police barracks by promising to give her a book.
Once she arrived, Ebong allegedly locked the young woman inside the house and tried to assault her. He is also accused of hiding her under a bed before she was eventually found and rescued.
The girl’s father, Bennie Olila, reported the incident to police, who moved quickly to take action. Regional police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed that Ebong is now in custody and has been formally charged.
A medical examination was carried out at Aboke Health Centre IV, and the findings have been sent to investigators in Lira to help build the case.
Police say the investigation is still active. Detectives are reviewing the medical report, continuing to question the suspect, and working to confirm further details as the matter moves forward.
