President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that he recently suffered a minor back injury during a routine workout session.Museveni made the disclosure on Thursday while speaking at the Africa We Build Summit, organised by Africa Finance Corporation in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The president, who is well known for his stamina and his ability to speak for long hours on his feet, asked to address the gathering while seated in order to ease his back pain.

“I am glad they allowed me to speak while seated here because while doing push-ups, I strained my back and I really want to talk to you comfortably, not in a hurry,” he said.

Despite the injury, Museveni appeared to walk without difficulty on his way into the conference, suggesting the problem was not serious.

The president has long been associated with physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. He once did push-ups in his office during the pandemic to encourage Ugandans to stay active while at home. Museveni is known for keeping an active routine well into his years in office, and the back strain appears to be a rare and minor setback from that same dedication to staying fit.

The incident drew mild amusement at the summit, with organisers accommodating his request to speak seated. Those in attendance noted that aside from the back discomfort, the president was in good spirits and delivered his remarks with his usual energy and engagement.
