The Ruparelia Foundation has announced a new initiative to offer 100 fully funded master’s degree scholarships in memory of Rajiv Ruparelia, the late son of renowned businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia.

The announcement was made by Dr. Sudhir and Mrs. Jyotsna Ruparelia during Victoria University’s 9th graduation ceremony held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The scholarship program seeks to celebrate and preserve Rajiv’s legacy, recognizing his unwavering commitment to empowering young people through education. Rajiv, who tragically passed away in May at the age of 35 after a motor accident, had played an instrumental role in Victoria University’s development, championing innovation and youth advancement across Africa.

“This program is a reflection of Rajiv’s lifelong passion for nurturing young leaders,” Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia remarked. “We believe those who benefit from these scholarships will carry forward the vision and values he stood for.”

The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from graduates, parents, and guests, marking an emotional highlight of the ceremony.

The new scholarship initiative builds on the Ruparelia Foundation’s longstanding commitment to education and philanthropy. Over the years, the foundation has extended various forms of educational support, including tuition relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and over 1,000 scholarships awarded to deserving students.

According to Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Muganga, the scholarships serve as both a heartfelt tribute and a forward-looking investment in Uganda’s youth.

The Busoga Kingdom monarch, His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, who served as chief guest, praised the Ruparelia family for transforming personal loss into an opportunity that will uplift future generations.

The graduation ceremony, themed “Shaping the Future: Innovation, Digitality & Employability,” also featured a visual tribute to Rajiv Ruparelia, celebrating his contributions and the positive change he inspired during his lifetime.
