Speke Resort Offers Food, Pool and Stay in $120 Independence Day Package

KAMPALA — Ugandans looking for a quick break without travelling far from the capital have a new Independence Day option, with Speke Resort Munyonyo introducing a special Freedom Getaway package that combines accommodation, meals and leisure activities.

The five-star lakeside resort is offering a Deluxe Room for a single guest at $120 (about Shs468,000) per night, while a double Deluxe Room costs $149 (about Shs582,000) per night.

The promotion is being offered ahead of Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations on October 9 and is aimed at families, couples, friends and other travellers looking to enjoy a short holiday over the public holiday.

The Freedom Getaway goes beyond accommodation, with the advertised rates covering breakfast and lunch, applicable taxes and complimentary use of the resort’s health club, swimming pool, steam room and sauna.

According to management, the package is intended to give guests a full holiday experience by bringing together accommodation, dining and recreation at the resort throughout the Independence Day break.

Situated along the shores of Lake Victoria in Munyonyo, Speke Resort has established itself as one of Kampala’s leading hospitality and events venues. The resort regularly hosts conferences, international meetings, corporate events and other high-profile gatherings.

Owned by businessman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and part of the Ruparelia Group, the property has 477 rooms and suites, restaurants and other dining facilities, a convention centre, an Olympic-size swimming pool and an equestrian centre.

Its lakeside setting has also helped position Speke Resort to benefit from Uganda’s growing domestic staycation market, as more residents seek leisure experiences close to Kampala without the expense and inconvenience of long-distance travel.

The Independence Day promotion comes as hotels and resorts around Uganda introduce special offers aimed at attracting holidaymakers during the October break.

For hospitality businesses, public holidays offer an opportunity to boost domestic tourism by encouraging Ugandans to spend their leisure time within the country rather than travelling abroad.

Speke Resort is encouraging interested guests to book early, with demand for rooms and leisure facilities expected to rise during the Independence Day holiday.
