The main suspect, identified as Kamugisha Kulaishi, a resident of Kasala LC I in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, is accused of murdering Natukunda Jackline, who reportedly lived in Lukaya. Police allege that Kamugisha was hired by a traditional healer from Kyotera District to obtain human body parts in exchange for Shs2 million.
According to investigators, Kamugisha had allegedly received Shs250,000 in advance, with the remaining Shs1.75 million expected to be paid after the body parts were delivered.
The investigation has taken a more disturbing direction following allegations that Kamugisha admitted to killing other women during police questioning. He reportedly claimed to have supplied some body parts to traditional healers and consumed others, including hearts and legs. Police say the claims are still being investigated.
The case emerged on September 29, 2026, after a human head wrapped in a white polythene bag was discovered at Kako Cell along the Kako–Mukungwe Road in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division.
Detectives later found a headless body at Butale Cell in Kyanamukaka, leading to investigations that culminated in the arrest of the two suspects.
Following his arrest, Kamugisha reportedly accompanied detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers to locations connected to Natukunda’s death as part of a reconstruction exercise. During the process, he allegedly demonstrated how he had picked up the victim from Lukaya and identified places linked to the killing.
Masaka East and West Police spokesperson SP Twaha Kasirye said investigators had also established possible connections between Kamugisha and two other murder cases reported in Nsangi, Wakiso District, and Sanga.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in the killings and claimed to have eaten one victim’s heart. Authorities have stressed that the allegations remain under investigation as detectives work to establish the facts surrounding the reported incidents.
A search at Kamugisha’s residence reportedly resulted in the recovery of several items, including a jacket, gumboots, a saucepan and other materials suspected of being associated with ritual activities.
Police have secured the recovered items for forensic examination to determine whether they are connected to the murder cases under investigation.
The investigations are being conducted jointly by police teams from Nyendo Division, Masaka East and the territorial police units in Nsangi and Sanga.
The two suspects remain in police custody as detectives seek to establish the full circumstances of Natukunda’s murder and determine whether other victims may be linked to the alleged crimes.
Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant while investigations continue.
