Gashumba, a close family friend and fellow social and political commentator, also reminded Junior of a past incident where he had clashed with him.

“This one, one time, attacked me, then he came and apologised while kneeling,” he recounted, prompting a smile from Junior as he recalled the memory.

“We shall guide you,” Gashumba reassured him.

In contrast, Gashumba praised Tamale Mirundi’s other son, John Mirundi, for his exemplary behaviour. He shared a story about how John, who works as a lawyer with Parliament, had once assisted him in accessing services there.

The funeral of veteran Ugandan journalist Joseph Tamale Mirundi took place on Sunday, August 18, at his ancestral home in Matale village, Kalagala in Kalisizo. Mirundi, who passed away on August 13 at Kisubi Hospital in Kampala due to respiratory complications, was laid to rest beside his father, Yowana Mirundi, in the family gravesite.

Tamale Mirundi served as the presidential press secretary until July 2015, when he was dismissed by President Yoweri Museveni after approximately 13 years in the role.

In 2019, Mirundi revealed that he had been poisoned, though it remains unclear whether he fully recovered from the incident.

Born in 1964 in Rakai District, Joseph Tamale Mirundi was a journalist, author, and political analyst, known for his sharp commentary on various media platforms. Over his career, he made significant contributions to outlets such as Radio 4, NBS TV, Top Radio, Beat FM, ABS TV, Impact FM, STV Uganda, Pearl FM, and Metro FM.
