A fatal road accident occurred on the morning of October 24, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m. near Lands Junction along the Kampala–Jinja Highway in Mukono Municipality, Mukono District. The crash involved a Mercedes Benz semi-trailer, registration number SSD 842Z/SSD 336Z, driven by 45-year-old Ibrahim Abdullahi, a Somali national who was traveling toward Sudan.

According to police, the trailer reportedly hit a motorcycle that was overtaking from the left side of the road and suddenly stopped. One of the passengers on the motorcycle, identified as 43-year-old Namulondo Mary, fell and was trapped under the rear left tire of the trailer. She died instantly at the scene.

Police say the accident was caused by reckless riding by the unidentified motorcycle rider, who fled immediately after the crash and has not yet been found. The motorcycle involved is also missing, and efforts to trace both the rider and the bike are ongoing.

The Mercedes Benz trailer has been impounded and taken to the Mukono Police Yard for mechanical inspection, while the body of the deceased has been taken to Kawolo Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Authorities have urged road users, especially motorcyclists, to observe traffic rules and avoid dangerous overtaking, noting that such reckless behavior continues to cause unnecessary loss of life on Uganda’s roads.
