A woman in Kamuli District has severed her husband’s private parts, marking the second such incident in the district within a year, following a similar case in Nabwiguru sub-county.
The latest incident took place in Buguwa village, Kawaga Parish in Balawoli sub-county, where the victim, Mathia Bwamiki, resides. His wife, Kevina Nabirye, allegedly poisoned herself after the attack but survived and was rushed to Kamuli-Mulago hospital along with her husband. Medical personnel at Kamuli hospital managed to reattach Bwamiki’s genitals under close monitoring, as he was admitted in critical condition.
Bwamiki, speaking from Mulago hospital in Kamuli town, recounted that the attack occurred shortly after he had been intimate with his wife. He claimed she had requested intercourse, which he initially hesitated to engage in but later agreed. Afterward, as he lay resting, he suddenly experienced intense pain and realized his genitals had been cut.
He attributed the incident to accusations from his wife, who believed he was comparing her to women on TikTok. In response to the attack, he fought back and eventually overpowered her before his brother intervened and took him to the hospital.
The growing number of similar cases has left residents fearful. Many men in the area are now considering taking extra precautions. A resident of Kamuli Municipality mentioned that he plans to start sleeping in overalls as a protective measure.
The incident has sparked widespread concern and debate, with calls for increased awareness and education on domestic violence and relationship issues.
