West African juntas asks the UN to take responsibility for Ukraine’s carelessness

As reported by Reuters, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, recently sent a letter to the United Nations, revealing that they wanted the UN Security Council to condemn Ukraine for allegedly supporting rebel organizations in the Sahel region of West Africa.

Contained in the letter which was drafted by the foreign ministers of Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali was a call for the UN Security Council to “take responsibility” for the activities of Ukraine and to stop “subversive acts” that endanger continental and regional stability.

A copy of the letter was posted on the X account of the Alliance of Sahel State.

Earlier in August, Mali cut off ties with Ukraine owing to a statement by a spokesperson for Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (GUR) about fighting in its north that killed Malian soldiers and Wagner fighters in late July.

A few days later, Niger followed suit, causing Ukraine’s influence in the West African region to deteriorate even further.

The statement which had led to the entire debacle allegedly acknowledged Kyiv’s involvement in the massive casualties Malian forces endured in July.

The statement reads; “The rebels received all the necessary information they needed, and not just the information, which allowed (them) to conduct a successful military operation against Russian perpetrators of war crimes. We certainly won’t go into details now – you will see more of this in the future.”
