What started as a livestream argument ended in tragedy for influencer Duchess Dior, whose real name was Zaria Khadejah Carr. The 27-year-old mother of two was found unresponsive in her Twin City, Georgia, home on Saturday night, June 14, after what authorities believe was a domestic violence incident.
Her husband, 36-year-old Shamarcus Carr, also known as The Frenchman, was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police chase. The couple shared two children.
According to officials, the argument turned fatal just hours after the couple went live on Facebook, publicly accusing each other of cheating. In the now-haunting clip, Zaria can be heard saying, “He’s getting mad because he doesn’t like the truth coming out.” Those may have been her final words.
Zaria died from gunshot wounds; Shamarcus shot himself inside the car
Zaria was found inside her home around 9:30 p.m. after neighbours called in a domestic disturbance. Officers from multiple agencies responded and confirmed she had died from gunshot wounds. Her husband and her black 2021 Dodge Challenger were missing. Authorities released an alert for the vehicle, which was later spotted in Wayne County just after 11 p.m.
A brief police pursuit followed. But before deputies could reach him, Shamarcus reportedly shot himself inside the car. He died shortly afterwards at a nearby hospital.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now handling the investigation into Zaria’s death, while the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is overseeing the details surrounding Shamarcus’s suicide. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting autopsies.
Fans believe warning signs were always there
Fans who followed Zaria online have now highlighted that red flags had been there all along. Known for her candid content on motherhood, lifestyle, and her relationship, Zaria often went live with Shamarcus, sometimes showing heated arguments in real time.
In that final Facebook Live, the tension was especially visible, with Shamarcus accusing her of being unfaithful, yelling at her to stop talking over him, and at one point saying something chilling: “You’re going to make me kill you.”
One user wrote, “They hated each other but couldn’t release that bond. People think these toxic relationships are cute and funny until something extreme happens; you can see it in his eyes.”
