UPDF Commandos destroy 3 Joseph Kony’s camps in Central African Republic – Sabasaba Updates

Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) commandos in Central African Republic (CAR) today launched a military operation destroying 3 camps of Lord’s Resistance Army rebel leader, Joseph Kony.

According to the Ugandan army deputy spokesperson, Col. Deo Akiiki, the military operation was coordinated with South Sudanese Peoples Defense Forces and security forces in Central African Republic, east of Sam Ouanja.

“All 3 camps were destroyed and equipment captured. Remnants of LRA still taking refuge in CAR or elsewhere on continent Africa will be hunted down.” Col. Deo Akiiki said in a statement.

He, however, did not make mention on casualties from both sides or if there were survivors after the attack. The rebel group LRA caused terror and havoc in northern Uganda during the 90’s until 2007 when the national army pushed it out of the country to Sudan and into jungles of Congo and now into CAR.

“Unless they hand themselves in to authorities for proper processing and rehabilitation they will continue to be considered as criminals.” Col. Deo Akiiki noted.
