Benardette Olokojo’s hands have no blood for the late husband, DPP discontinues the case.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Jane Francis Abodo has withdrawn the murder charge against the widow of the former St. Peter’s college head teacher, Bernadette Aketch Mary Olokojo.
Bernadette Olokojo and three others had been accused of murdering the former head teacher, Joseph Olokojo.
The late Olokojo was burnt by unknown arsonists leaving him with multiple injuries that later led to his death at Mbale regional referral hospital where he had been rushed for medical attention.
The accused persons were supposed to appear on Thursday 31st October, 2024 for bail application but in a twist of events; court received a document from the director public prosecution indicating that they have decided to withdraw the case.
The letter dated 24th October 2024 to the chief magistrate of Tororo and copied to the Resident State Attorney Tororo and the regional CID officer reads that director public prosecution has decided to discontinue proceedings against Aketch Bernadette Mary Olokojo, Regina Auma, Owamukama Promise and Sister Prudence Nankuisa who were charged with murder.
Meanwhile, Abodo did not indicate in the letter the reason for discontinuing the case. The development exonerated the four from criminal proceedings in the case and they were immediately released from court.
