Unidentified Man’s Body Discovered in Nambale River

(Nambale River)Grief has gripped residents of Nambiti A, Nambiti B and Nashikhaso villages in Bungokho Sub County, Mbale district after a middle-aged man was found dead inside Nambale River.

Sam Kibosi, the chairman LC 1 of Nambiti B village in Bushikori parish, confirmed the incident noting that the body of the unidentified man was found floating in the waters on Monday morning, 22nd July, 2024.

According to Kibosi, one of his residents who had gone to harvest nappier grass for his livestock saw clothes in the river, an unusual thing that attracted his attention.

This resident said as he reached the scene, he spotted a body of a man who was wearing his undergarments and a shirt, while his other clothes lay beside the river.

He alerted the villagers who milled to the scene to witness.

The police were immediately called to the scene, and facilitated the recovery of the body from the river.

It is not yet clear what may have led to his death, although others labeled it a case of suspected death by suicide.

Residents and authorities from the area have called on suffering men to seek alternative help from churches, fellow men or local leaders to avert such incidences from recurring.

According to the villagers, many locals were going through tough times occasioned by tough economic times, diseases and social problems.

The body was moved to Mbale main hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem.
