Tragedy has struck in Saudi Arabia after a Ugandan woman lost her life in a fatal fall while allegedly attempting to evade immigration officials.

According to reports, the yet-to-be-identified woman fell from a building during a frantic attempt to escape authorities who were conducting an immigration operation in the area. Witnesses say she tried to flee after spotting the officials but tragically slipped and fell to her death.

The incident has sparked grief among the Ugandan migrant community in Saudi Arabia, many of whom face daily struggles with harsh working conditions, immigration crackdowns, and limited legal protection.

Ugandan community leaders in the Gulf state have called for urgent dialogue between Kampala and Riyadh to address the plight of migrant workers. Human rights advocates have also raised concerns, citing the risks undocumented workers face when fleeing immigration raids.

Back home, relatives of the deceased are demanding answers and assistance from government agencies to repatriate her body. Many have expressed anger over what they describe as the government’s failure to ensure better protection for Ugandans working abroad.

This heartbreaking case adds to the growing list of Ugandan domestic and migrant workers who have died under distressing circumstances in the Middle East, reigniting debate over the safety of labor export policies.
