Residents of Kakiika Division in Mbarara City have been left in shock after reports emerged that a well-known witch doctor allegedly impregnated the wife of a local pastor who had long struggled with infertility.
According to locals, the pastor, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons, had been married for over ten years without a child. Despite several prayers, fasting sessions, and hospital visits, the couple had failed to conceive. Desperate for a solution, the pastor’s wife secretly sought help from a traditional healer operating in the outskirts of Mbarara.
Sources claim that the woman, in her late 30s, was introduced to the witch doctor by a close friend who promised “spiritual cleansing and fertility restoration.” Over the following months, she reportedly visited the shrine several times for rituals that included herbal baths and sacrifices.
Shock came when she later discovered she was pregnant—something the couple had given up hope on years ago. When the pastor joyfully announced the pregnancy during a Sunday service, a whistleblower from the community revealed that the woman had been visiting the witch doctor frequently.
The story quickly spread across Mbarara, dividing the congregation. Some church members expressed disbelief, while others called for the pastor’s resignation pending investigations.
Local authorities confirmed they are aware of the matter but described it as a “domestic and spiritual issue” that does not warrant criminal investigation unless fraud or coercion is proven.
Meanwhile, the witch doctor, only identified as “Omurangi Ruranganwa”, has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he only performed “ancestral fertility rituals” and that the rest is “the work of nature.”
The pastor has since gone silent and reportedly suspended church services as the situation continues to attract attention both in Mbarara City and online.
