Uganda Airlines has signed a short term lease agreement with DAT, a Lithuanian airline based in Karmelava to enhance its operational efficiency for the winter season.
The A320-200 mid-range Aircraft and 9.3 years old has been acquired on a wet lease form to supplement the current fleet of CRJ and A330 and to most especially resolve the operational challenges the Airlines has been encountering on Kinshasha and Johannesburg routes.
A Wet Lease is an arrangement covering the hire of an aircraft including the provision of a flight crew and sometimes fuel.
“This lease will also help resolve operational challenges on routes like Kinshasha and Johannesburg where we have been unable to operate efficiently due to capacity limitations and augment operations on Nairobi, Lagos and Abuja,” reads the statement in part.
According to a press statement dated, Monday, 25th November, 2024, Uganda Airlines says the Airbus will come with its own pilots and Cabin crew.
The Aircraft is a 156 Seater, two class Cabin Configuration of 12 Business Class, and 144 Economy Seats.
The leasing of this Airbus comes at a time when there is a spike in travel due to the festive season as leisure and business travels increase.
