A tragic road accident on Thursday afternoon in Muhokya Town, along the Kasese–Mbarara Road, has left the community in shock after a collision claimed two lives and left several others seriously injured.

The crash involved a white Toyota Hiace (registration number UBS 891C) and a white Mitsubishi Pajero (registration number UAV 674Q). According to Kasese Central Police, the Pajero was attempting to overtake when it collided head-on with the oncoming van—a reckless maneuver believed to have triggered the deadly impact.

The deceased have been identified as David Remegious Mbusa, an employee of Centenary Bank, Mbarara Branch, and Mathias Maate. Several other passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to hospitals within Kasese Municipality for emergency medical treatment.

Confirmed reports indicate that the late David Mbusa, who was working with Centenary Bank at the time of the incident, was a brother to Msgr. Landaus Bwambale, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Kasese.

In response to the accident, traffic authorities have renewed calls for motorists to observe road safety guidelines. They cited speeding, reckless overtaking, and a general failure to exercise caution as leading causes of road fatalities in the region.

Efforts are ongoing to support the bereaved families and to ensure proper care for the injured survivors.
