Two unidentified men lost their lives instantly, and a woman was seriously injured in a fatal road accident on the evening of Tuesday, June 18, 2025, at Awindiri Trading Center along the Arua–Nebbi Road.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Collins Asea, the Public Relations Officer for the West Nile Region, reported that the crash occurred at around 8:45 PM. It involved a Sino truck with dual registration numbers CGO3918AC and CGO4033AC, and two motorcycles — a Bajaj Boxer (UFV725P) and an unregistered Senke motorcycle with chassis number LGVSJP1O6PZ302245.
SP Asea explained that all vehicles were traveling in the same direction from Nebbi towards Arua City. One of the motorcycle riders, transporting sacks of silver fish, reportedly attempted to overtake the truck from the left side. During the maneuver, one of the sacks struck the truck, causing the motorcycle and its passengers to be dragged beneath the vehicle’s wheels.
The collision claimed the lives of both the motorcycle rider and his passenger on the spot. Police had not confirmed their identities at the time of the report.
A third victim, identified as Collet Anguparu, 25, from Wandi in Terego District, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
“Traffic officers quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and transported the bodies to Arua City Mortuary for postmortem examinations,” said SP Asea.
He confirmed that the truck driver is in custody to aid the investigation, while the rider of the second motorcycle (UFV725P) is currently on the run.
All three vehicles involved — the truck and both motorcycles — have been impounded and are being held at Arua Central Police Station for further inspection.
SP Asea emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and urged road users to exercise extreme caution, especially when overtaking.
The incident has been logged under reference numbers TSD 07/18/06/2025 and TAR:099/2025 at Arua City Central Police Station.
