Two Burned Beyond Recognition as Motorcycle, Taxi Catch Fire

A tragic accident in Kibatiko village, Nakasongola, on Saturday evening claimed two lives after a motorcycle carrying fuel collided with a taxi, causing a deadly fire. The crash occurred around 8 PM when the motorcycle, heading to Nakasongola Town, lost control and crashed into a taxi bound for Kampala.

The impact triggered an explosion, burning both the rider and their passenger beyond recognition. Fortunately, all ten passengers in the taxi escaped unharmed, though they lost their belongings in the fire.

Authorities took the wreckage to Nakasongola Police Station, while the victims’ remains were moved to Nakasongola Hospital for identification and postmortem examination.

Police have since warned against transporting fuel on motorcycles, urging the public to prioritise safety to prevent similar tragedies.
