A student at Metropolitan International University in Biharwe, Mbarara City died in an accident involving a pickup truck during a guild campaign procession. Others were injured during the incident.
The deceased was identified as Desire Kankunda. The injured were rushed to Mayanja Memorial Hospital for treatment following the March 21 accident.Kankunda and her colleagues were aboard a pickup truck which overturned in a playground in Biharwe.
The accident raised concerns on campaign rallies and procession for university guild elections, with some blaming reckless driving.
In some guild rallies at some university campuses, there have been violent scenes between rival camps, sometimes leading to injuries and death.
