TORORO: Police Dog Tracks Man for Syphoning Transformer Oil in Malaba

Police in Tororo district is currently hunting for a Malaba based man on allegations of vandalizing a transformer in Malaba town council and siphoning transformer oil.

 

Joseph Okwalinga is believed to have climbed a transformer pole found in Malaba town council along Koitangiro road on Saturday, 26th October, 2024 and disassembled a transformer, vandalized and later siphoned the transformer oil.

 

The transformer was then abandoned only to be discovered by residents who immediately tipped Malaba police.

 

Malaba police then informed the Tororo Central Police Station who went to the scene and introduced a sniffer dog that traced up to the home of Joseph Okwalinga in Obore A cell in Obore Ward, Malaba Town Council.

 

According to the Bukedi regional police spokesperson, IP Moses Mugwe, police in the presence of the area local leaders conducted a search in the house of Okwalinga where they recovered electricity wires and other electricity related assortments.

 

Mugwe noted that as police, they have been fighting vandalism of electricity items that in the recent past was rampant in the district and they have currently launched a search for Okwalinga that they believe is among the racket that has been vandalizing powerlines in different parts of the district.
