Matugga, Uganda – May 8, 2025 — A shocking act of violence has left the Matugga community reeling after an 18-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a traditional healer to death following a disagreement over Shs 2,000. The incident, which occurred at around 1:20 AM in Kito Cell, has triggered a manhunt as the suspect remains on the run.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Isa Bisobolwa, a known traditional healer in the area. The suspect, Richard Mutyaba, is accused of fatally stabbing Bisobolwa during a heated argument.
“The victim, Bisobolwa Isa, 45, a traditional healer, was stabbed by suspect Mutyaba Richard, 18,” Onyango confirmed in a press statement. “Preliminary findings indicate the two had been living together and were seen socializing at Mama Naka bar in Matugga on the evening of May 7.”
The altercation reportedly erupted over a dispute involving Shs 2,000. Mutyaba is said to have attacked Bisobolwa, stabbing him twice—once in the neck and again in the stomach—before fleeing the scene.
Bisobolwa was rushed to Wanda Health Center by witnesses but was declared dead upon arrival. Police have since opened a murder investigation, documented the crime scene, and transferred the body to Mulago Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Authorities are appealing to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of Mutyaba, who is now considered a fugitive.
The tragic incident has stunned residents and raised concerns about escalating youth violence in the area. Community leaders have called for calm and urged cooperation with law enforcement as the search for the suspect intensifies.
