Top 10 African countries with the highest number of generous people

Posted on

There is hardly anything more uplifting than receiving aid from where one least expects it. Gestures such as this restore faith in humanity, given the slew of depressing headlines that liter the news. It is especially admirable to see such a culture of generosity thriving in some African countries where the people barely have enough for themselves.

Given Africa’s status as a developing nation, some parts of the continent have become accustomed to receiving alms from other parts of the globe.

However, there is a culture of rendering aid to one another that has begun to take root in some countries on the continent. Citizens of said countries have come to understand the relevance of helping each other, and as a result, boast some of the most generous people across the globe.

Liberia, Libya, Kenya, and Nigeria are a few of such countries as a large portion of their adult population has rendered some form of help to a stranger at some point in their lives.

As a nation with a young population, the high ranking on volunteering and the willingness to help a stranger is a positive indicator of the “utu” spirit which signifies humanity. Kenyans’ actions around donating money also indicate how important it is to help with what one has,” the report reads.

The report also revealed that 4.2 billion people gave money, time, or helped someone they didn’t know in 2022. This number represented 72% of the world’s adult population.

With that said, here are the 10 African countries with the highest number of people among its adult population that have helped a stranger according to the World Giving Index.
