Ugandan billionaire and property investor Sudhir Ruparelia has revealed an ambitious plan to redevelop Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, marking the beginning of a major transformation for one of the city’s most recognized leisure and hospitality venues.

The chairman of Ruparelia Group shared digital architectural concepts illustrating how the property will appear after the upgrade. The images show a modern complex featuring high-rise towers surrounded by landscaped green spaces. This design represents a significant departure from the club’s existing low-rise structures, introducing a more contemporary and luxurious urban style. Glass-fronted buildings, spacious balconies and carefully planned outdoor areas are expected to give the development a blend of city sophistication and resort-like comfort.

The vision behind the project is to transform Kabira into a fully integrated destination where visitors can stay, shop, dine and relax in one location. Instead of being a place people visit for a single activity, the redeveloped facility is intended to accommodate longer stays for both business and leisure.

The project is being carried out by Meera Investments, a real estate arm of the Ruparelia Group, as part of a multi-billion-shilling expansion. Once finished, the complex is expected to include approximately 360 serviced apartments, a shopping mall, multiple restaurants, improved sports facilities, a bowling alley and a modern conference centre. Plans also feature an 18-storey five-star hotel tower. Construction works are being handled by Vcon Construction Uganda Limited.

Development has already begun, with several key structures scheduled for completion within the year. The project is anticipated to reshape the skyline of Bukoto while raising the standard of serviced accommodation and conference facilities in Kampala.

Currently recognised as a four-star hotel by the Uganda Tourism Board, Kabira Country Club has long operated as a boutique hospitality and recreation centre known for amenities such as swimming, tennis and event hosting. The new redevelopment will maintain these core features while adding premium residential and commercial spaces designed to attract both local and international guests.

This redevelopment also strengthens Dr. Ruparelia’s growing portfolio of major hospitality and real estate projects, which includes Kingdom Kampala and Speke Resort Munyonyo, reflecting his continued investment in Uganda’s tourism and property sectors.

When completed, the upgraded Kabira complex is expected to reinforce Bukoto’s status as an important centre for upscale living, business activities and leisure within Kampala.
