Kampala: Renowned businessman Sudhir Ruparelia on Thursday marked the birthday of his late son, Rajiv Ruparelia, observing what he referred to as Rajiv’s first birthday in heaven following his untimely death last year.

Born on January 2, Rajiv was fondly remembered by family members, friends, and colleagues as a warm, generous, and compassionate young man whose life ended far too early.

In an emotional message shared to commemorate the day, Sudhir reflected on the deep sense of loss left by his son’s passing. He invited friends and well-wishers to remember Rajiv in prayer and to wish him everlasting peace, expressing the lasting bond between a father and his child and the quiet sorrow of celebrating a birthday without him.

The tribute was accompanied by photos capturing Rajiv in calm, reflective moments, alongside a touching note conveying how memories, though comforting, can never fully replace the presence of a loved one.

Rajiv Ruparelia lost his life on May 3, 2025, in a tragic road accident at the Busabala Flyover along the Munyonyo–Entebbe Expressway. Reports indicated that he was driving a high-performance sports car which crashed and caught fire, leading to his immediate death.

The devastating news sent waves of grief across the nation, prompting an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, business figures, and members of the public who admired Rajiv for both his professional promise and humanitarian spirit.

Beyond his prominent family background, Rajiv was widely respected for his humility, kindness, and quiet generosity. Those who knew him personally often described him as approachable and deeply caring, especially toward the disadvantaged.

He actively supported various charitable causes and was seen as part of a new generation of business leaders committed to social responsibility. Many remember him not for extravagance, but for his gentle nature and sincere readiness to help others.

As the Ruparelia family observes this emotional milestone, tributes continue to flow, underscoring that although Rajiv Ruparelia’s life was short, his legacy of kindness and compassion lives on.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
