Kingdom Kampala, a signature investment by the Ruparelia Group, played host to a major cultural and diplomatic event as the French community in Uganda held the 2024 Beaujolais Nouveau celebration. The gathering attracted over 800 attendees, with prominent businessman Sudhir Ruparelia among the notable guests.
The annual celebration, organised by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Uganda (FCCU) and supported by the French Embassy, transformed the upscale complex into a lively showcase of culture, fine dining, and international business interaction. The selection of Kingdom Kampala highlighted its rising status as a top venue for prestigious events and global engagements.
French Ambassador Virginie Leroy opened the evening by greeting the large crowd and reflecting on the global importance of Beaujolais Nouveau, a young French wine traditionally released every November. She described the event as a key expression of French heritage, widely celebrated in major cities across the world and now warmly adopted in Kampala.
Ambassador Leroy also emphasized the FCCU’s role in strengthening economic relations between France and Uganda. She noted that French companies continue to be leading private investors in the country and reiterated the Embassy’s dedication to supporting deeper cooperation moving forward.
A special highlight of the evening was the presence of renowned Master Cheesemaker Grégory Giraudon, who is in Uganda to train local chefs. His workshops on cheese craftsmanship, culinary presentation, and technique contribute to ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting skills within Uganda’s hospitality sector. Ambassador Leroy praised his work as a meaningful example of hands-on knowledge exchange between the two nations.
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed wine tasting sessions, French culinary experiences, and cultural performances, creating an environment where social interaction blended seamlessly with business networking. Diplomats, investors, entrepreneurs, and members of the Franco-Ugandan community used the event to strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities.
For Kingdom Kampala, the celebration added to its growing reputation as a premier venue for major international events. Under the leadership of the Ruparelia Group and its Chairman, Sudhir Ruparelia, the establishment continues to host diplomatic meetings, cultural events, and corporate functions, reinforcing Kampala’s position as a key regional center for business and hospitality.
Ambassador Leroy closed the evening with a symbolic toast honouring the deep and enduring relationship between France and Uganda, describing the partnership as “a perfect match just like wine and cheese.
