Speke Resort Munyonyo has been recognised as Uganda’s Leading Conference Hotel for 2026 at the World Travel Awards, giving the five-star property another notable international honour.
The latest award further strengthens the resort’s position as one of Uganda’s major destinations for conferences, meetings and large-scale events.
Located in Munyonyo, the resort operates under the Speke Group of Hotels, which is part of the Ruparelia Group owned by businessman Sudhir Ruparelia.
Over the years, Speke Resort Munyonyo has built a strong presence in the meetings and events industry, hosting government programmes, corporate functions, international gatherings and private occasions.
The property has 19 conference halls as well as five outdoor event venues, giving organisers a range of options depending on the size and nature of their events.
According to the resort, its conference facilities provide the largest capacity of their kind in East and Central Africa. That capacity has helped the property pursue major regional conferences and business events.
The resort’s facilities extend beyond meetings. It has 477 rooms and suites divided across nine accommodation categories, providing options for different types of visitors.
Guests can also choose from five restaurants and two bars, while the property offers recreational facilities designed to serve both business travellers and those visiting for leisure.
The World Travel Awards recognition comes at a time when Uganda is placing greater emphasis on business tourism and the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector as part of efforts to broaden the country’s tourism industry.
For Speke Resort Munyonyo, the award reinforces its strategy of combining conference facilities with accommodation, restaurants and leisure amenities to create a comprehensive destination for major events.
The resort said the recognition reflects its continued investment in hospitality and conference infrastructure, while also expressing appreciation to its guests and business partners for their continued support.
