SOROTI CITY
A boda boda rider has been arrested on allegations of murder after he slapped a visibly drunk pedestrian who was walking zig zag at 10:00PM at Agama Moru trading center, Soroti City West Division.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nachuha Damalie, Regional Police Commander for East Kyoga, Ekanu Samuel met a one Ekuju Anthony, aged 45 years and a resident of Ajumula cell, Agama ward, Soroti City West Div walking zig zag along the road on 30th October, 2024.
Infuriated by Ekuju’s movements, Ekanu decided to park his motorcycle aside and slapped the deceased hard causing him to fall on a hard surface thereby sustaining an injury on his head.
The incident was reported by Eripu Denis, a driver and also resident of Ajumula “A” cell Agama ward Soroti City West Division.
Ekuju was rushed to Joint Clinic for Medical attention where at about 3:00AM, he succumbed to the injury he sustained.
Later his body was picked up and taken to Bethesda hospital for postmortem.
The Crime scene was visited by a team of police officers led by D/ ASP Lwembawo Stephen, the D/CID and SOCCO team.
Nachuha confirmed that the Suspect has been arrested for questioning
