Police in Kampala Metropolitan have arrested a security guard from Detailed Security Services for allegedly stealing Shs 79 million from his employer.
Authorities acted quickly after receiving reports that the suspect had turned against his employer and fled with the money.
On February 14, police in Kasangati responded to a case of aggravated robbery at Mukadwe Hardware in Wakiso, where the suspect allegedly grabbed the money and escaped on a motorcycle. Officers later intercepted him at Naalya Roundabout and recovered Shs 70 million.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue, and he is expected to face formal charges soon.
Police have advised businesses and security firms to strengthen vetting processes for security personnel to prevent similar incidents. This case highlights concerns over internal security threats, with authorities stressing the importance of strict monitoring and trust verification within security companies.
