Race narrows for KCCA Executive Director position; Here are the 12 candidates on the latest shortlist

The race for the coveted Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director (ED) position continues to intensify, drawing public interest as the Ministry of Public Service narrows down the list of candidates.

In the latest development, the Ministry has whittled down the initial shortlist of 44 candidates to a final 12. According to a letter from the Ministry, these remaining contenders will proceed to competence and aptitude exams, with dates and locations to be announced soon.

“The following candidates have been successfully shortlisted for competence/aptitude exams; dates and venue will be communicated later,” stated the official correspondence.

Several notable figures, including acting KCCA ED Frank Rusa Nyakaana, former Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga, and ex-NSSF Managing Director Richard Byarugaba, are no longer in the running. Kabushenga, who addressed his elimination on social media, explained that he did not meet the Master’s degree requirement.

The 12 candidates still in contention for the role are as follows:

  3. Sharifah Buzeki
  4. Godfrey Kaima
  5. Benon Moses Kigenyi
  6. Swizin Mugyema Kinga
  7. Godfrey Bwebukya Kisekka
  8. Rogers Matte
  9. Emmy Ejuku Olaboro
  10. Grandfield Omonda Oryono
  11. Ronald Kiberu Ssekabembe
  12. Joses Kachetero Tegyeza

As the selection process advances, attention is turning to these finalists as they vie for the leadership role at KCCA, which is pivotal in shaping the future of Kampala’s urban management and development.
