Promoter Nobat responds to Weasel nonpayment claims

Instead, he clarified that as per the agreement, it is Weasel that owes him up to Shs. 13 million.

Weasel came out yesterday to accuse Twizire of Nobat Events of refusing to pay him his cut from the Memories of Goodlyfe” which took place at Hotel Africana.

“…Mr. Nobat has yet to pay us for our performance,” he wrote.

Despite numerous attempts to reach out to him, our efforts have been met with silence. It’s unacceptable that we’ve been left unpaid for our work.

To make matters worse, Mr. Nobat provoked me today, adding insult to injury. We’re speaking out because we believe in fairness and transparency in the music industry. We deserve to be paid for our craft, just like any other professional.

Speaking on the allegations in a televised interview this morning, Twizire gave the following clarification and shared details from the agreement between him, Weasel and his wife and manager, Sandra Teta.

  • As per the agreement, Twizire was to pay Weasel Shs 40 million from gate collections.
  • However, it was also agreed that all the money collected from tables sold (a table was going for Shs 3miilion), was to be shared 50/50 between Weasel and Twizire.
  • A total of 31 tables were shared.
  • It was agreed that one table would be removed and used to buy a cow for Mrs Jane Kasubo, the mother of the late Radio; leaving 30 tables worth Shs 90million.
  • Sandra Teta was the one who marketed and successfully sold most of the tables and she collected all the money.
  • After the show, Weasel’s team paid Nobert only 12 million out of his Shs 45 million cut, leaving a balance of 33 million.
  • In return, Twizire also paid only 20 million out of the 40 million he was supposed to pay Weasel from the gate collections.
  • That left him with an outstanding balance of Shs 13 million that Weasel still owns him.

Twizire claims Weasel is trying to play to the public gallery.

He also accuses him of throwing a tantrum during their mediation meeting after using drugs.
