South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has reportedly directed police to arrest radio presenter Penny Ntuli and a friend after a video of them twerking by the roadside went viral.
The short clip, which spread widely on social media, shows Ntuli and her companion dancing close to fast-moving cars along a busy road. While some online users dismissed the act as harmless fun, many condemned it as reckless and unsafe.
In a statement attributed to the Presidency, Ramaphosa strongly criticised the incident, warning that such behaviour puts lives at risk. “Freedom must be exercised responsibly. Putting lives at risk under the guise of entertainment is unacceptable. Law enforcement has been directed to take swift action,” the statement read.
Police have since confirmed that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the roadside performance.
The video has sparked mixed reactions online, with some defending Ntuli as simply entertaining her followers, while others argue that public figures should set a better example and avoid dangerous stunts.
