Police has recovered a dead black cow abandoned inside a silver Toyota Ipsum (registration number UAN 674A) along Villa Maria Road in Kitante-Kilowoza.

According to a statement issued today, Monday, 11th November, 2024 by the Police Spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the incident occurred on November 8, 2024, at around 6:00AM.

He says police officers from Masaka Police encountered the vehicle with three occupants who fled the scene when approached by the officers. Upon inspection, the officers discovered a dead black cow in the back seat, which is suspected to be stolen.

“This incident underscores a troubling trend of perpetrators often hiding stolen animals in vehicle compartments to avoid detection. The vehicles used for these crimes are commonly reported as stolen to police as a means of protection against being seized during police operations,” says.

He has urged the public to stay alert and vigilant to report suspicious animal transportation especially as the festive season draws closer.
