Police increase bounty to Shs60m in hunt for Mutaaga murder suspects

Naguru, Uganda – Police have increased the cash reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects behind the brutal killing of David Mutaaga (69) and his wife Deborah Florence Mutaaga (62) in Entebbe, raising it from UGX 50 million to UGX 60 million.

While addressing the press at Naguru Police Headquarters on Monday, Police spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma said the move is intended to speed up cooperation from the public in helping security agencies capture the perpetrators.

“The Uganda Police Force is committed to bringing those responsible for the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga to justice. We initially offered 50 million shillings for information leading to an arrest. That reward has now been increased to 60 million shillings,” ACP Kituuma stated.

The couple, who had recently returned from Germany, were discovered fatally stabbed inside their Lugonjo residence last month. Early investigations suggest the attack was carefully planned, sparking fear and outrage among residents over the growing wave of violent crime targeting elderly citizens.

ACP Kituuma also clarified media reports that claimed police had already identified the killers. He explained that while some individuals are being closely monitored as potential suspects, their details will only be made public once solid evidence has been obtained.

So far, investigators have circulated both images and audio recordings of one prime suspect and urged Ugandans to share credible information rather than spread unverified claims that could derail the ongoing probe.
