PLU’s Hajji Ssebuufu Praises Ruparelia Group for Job Creation and Community Support

Businessman and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) mobiliser Hajji Muhammad Ssebuufu has commended the Ruparelia family for its contribution to Uganda’s economy and communities through business investments and charitable initiatives.

Ssebuufu made the remarks in Gulu, where he led a PLU delegation attending a memorial motorsport event organised in honour of the late rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia. He praised the Ruparelia Foundation for its community support programmes and the Ruparelia Group for investing in various sectors, saying the businesses help sustain economic activity and provide employment opportunities.

He also expressed appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for what he described as a conducive environment for investment. Ssebuufu said businesses need favourable conditions to establish, expand and create opportunities, adding that private-sector investment can play an important role in national development and community progress.

He noted that the contribution of businesses should not be limited to commercial operations, but should also include initiatives that improve people’s lives and support communities.

Ssebuufu further commended PLU Chairman Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Secretary General Mr Fadil Twalla and MP David Kabanda for their campaign against corruption. He emphasised the need to ensure that public funds are used for their intended purposes and reach the citizens they are meant to serve.

Rajiv, the son of businessman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, died in a road accident in May 2025 at the age of 35. He was a rally driver and patron of the Central Motor Club. The PLU delegation’s visit paid tribute to his contribution to motorsport and the charitable activities associated with preserving his legacy.

Members of the motorsport fraternity have continued to remember Rajiv through events organised in his honour. The gatherings provide an opportunity to celebrate his life while supporting community causes connected to his memory.
