The crash involved a Scania motor vehicle, registration number UAV 701C, belonging to YY Company. The vehicle, which was traveling from Katosi to Jinja, lost control as it approached Makindu Village.
The vehicle overturned and caught fire, leading to the death of several people whose identities are yet to be confirmed.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kananura Michael, the Community Liaison Officer at the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, confirmed the incident and assured the public that police and emergency services are on-site, working to extinguish the fire and recover the bodies of those who perished.
“We are doing everything we can to manage the situation and assist the victims,” Kananura stated.
