The Police in Kanungu District are investigating the suspected murder of a 20-year-old woman identified as Rachael Kemigisha a resident of Omwirangizo Village in Kibimbiri Parish in Kihihi Sub-County.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and said that Kemigisha was last seen at home by her father on Thursday, March 13th 2025 and her mother informed the father that she had gone to Kihihi Health Centre IV.
However yesterday morning her body was discovered at a small gate near Kihihi Health Centre IV by boda boda rider identified as Alexander Musinguzi who immediately reported the matter to Kihihi Police Station.
Kigezi said that the crime scene was examined and documented by Scene of Crime Officers, a team of homicide detectives, and Police officers from Kihihi Police Station and statements have been recorded from witnesses, and the body was taken to Kihihi Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
Maate further revealed that a nurse he did not name from the clinic has been arrested to assist in the ongoing investigations after Police officers who examined the scene reported finding white torn gloves between the body and a brown bag.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim’s arms appeared twisted, but investigations are still underway to determine the cause of death and the possible motive behind the crime.
