NRM leaders prepare for grassroots mobilisation tour

Addressing the MPs, Todwong highlighted the importance of engaging representatives to address issues affecting the local population.

“We prioritise consulting with MPs and local leaders before visiting their areas to hear their perspectives and inform them of our plans,” he said.

“In Busoga, concerns have been raised by sugarcane farmers and fishing communities regarding the strict enforcement by the Fisheries Protection Unit and challenges with wetland farming. The mobilisation tour will focus on these matters, ensuring we work together to resolve them,” the Secretary General added.

Todwong further mentioned that the mobilisation campaign would extend to other regions after Busoga and Lango, with a continued emphasis on reinforcing the NRM’s presence at the grassroots level and addressing local issues.

He commended the regional whips for their coordination efforts and stressed the need to gather success stories from government programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, which are aimed at reducing poverty.

The Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, stated that the mobilisation would prioritise service delivery to address local concerns and enhance project implementation ahead of the forthcoming elections.

“I encourage locals to attend the meetings with the party’s leadership in large numbers to voice their concerns,” Obua said.

He also mentioned that fishermen and sugarcane farmers in both sub-regions would have the chance to engage directly with party leaders to seek lasting solutions to their issues.

The meeting was attended by several senior NRM officials, including National Treasurer Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oundo, Deputy National Treasurer Jacquiline Kyatuheire, NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi, Deputy Chairperson John Alimper Kigyaagi, Commissioner Alisemeera Jane Babiiha, Director of Information and Public Relations Emmanuel Dombo, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, Director of Finance and Administration, and Major Awich Pollar, Director of External Affairs.
