In a press statement dated 8th August, 2024, the NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Abiaz Rwamiri, says whereas there was an attempted robbery at the Director’s residence, Bugolobi at 2:00PM on Thursday, no cash was stolen.

The Social Media reports had however, indicated that two men travelling in an Ipsum car broke into Dr. Nahamya’s residence and picked sacks of money and when they were chased, they opened one bag of money and started splashing to the public causing a stampede.

Rwamiri says the actual number of the thieves who accessed the Directors house were six and two were arrested by neighbors who responded to an alarm raised by one of the maids.

“What is true is that six thieves sneaked into Mr. Nahamya’s residence, handcuffed one of the maids, and while they searched the house, another house-helper came in and made an alarm that attracted the attention of the neighbors who helped to arrest two of these thieves while the four escaped,” says Rwamiri.

He says the arrested two thieves are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
