A circumciser also known as Local surgeon has cut off the manhood of young man he was circumcising drawing anger from Imbalu dancers and relatives of the victim who wanted to lynch him.
According to Safu Sitsangi, one of the area residents, the incident happened at Bushuma village, Buwambgwa parish, Nambuka Sub County in Namisindwa district on Thursday, 28th November, 2024.
He says that Yokan Wonekha was descended upon by Kadodi dancers who were armed with pangas, sticks and stones but Stephen Matenga, the area LCI chairperson saved him by calling police.
Matenga says that the casualty has been rushed to Butiru Chrisco hospital located at Butiru Town Council in Manafwa district in a critical condition for further management.
Stephen Kitsala, the father of the casualty says that he wants Wonekha to face law so that they can get justice.
Stephen Masiga, the communication officer of Inzu Yamasaba condemned the incident but accused people for always defying the road map of the institution.
He says that this week Inzu, came up with a clear road map of December circumcision but some people are abusing it which might have caused these problems.
Fred Wamakoko, the chairperson of local surgeon in Bugisu region says Yokan Wonekha was not in their record as a registered surgeon saying the law must take its course.
He says that in his record, he has only 163surgeons registered and allowed by Inzu yamasaaba to carry out circumcision work
Wamakoko says that Bugisu region has over 500 surgeons but majority have refused to be registered warning people not to use them because they have no skills and certificates.
Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying Wonekha is currently being detained at Bubutu police post.
