Kawempe North residents have publicly expressed deep regret over their electoral choice of Erias Nalukoola as their Member of Parliament. Several voters now claim their previous candidate, Faridah Nambi, demonstrated better leadership qualities despite her National Resistance Movement (NRM) party affiliation.
According to multiple residents speaking at a community gathering, their new MP rushed to claim UGX 300 million for a vehicle purchase plus UGX 55 million salary immediately after taking oath. The swift move to secure these funds has left many questioning his commitment to service delivery.
“We made a terrible mistake choosing this man over Nambi, who truly showed motherly leadership,” said Mohamed Kasirye, a local businessman. His fleet of expensive cars proves he never needed our taxes for another vehicle.”
Local community leader Sarah Nakitto remembered how Nalukoola campaigned promising to fight government wastage. She now describes his actions as a betrayal of voter trust.
Residents pointed out Nalukoola already owns multiple vehicles including a Range Rover and Harrier. They questioned his rush for additional government funds with only months before the 2026 elections.
The voters highlighted Nambi’s track record of community development projects during her tenure. They now acknowledge overlooking her achievements due to party politics.
Former campaign volunteer James Mukasa recalled their door-to-door efforts supporting Nalukoola’s promises. He expressed shock at their candidate’s swift change after securing victory.
Youth leader Peter Wasswa emphasized their previous criticism of Nambi’s NRM connection. He admitted their judgement was clouded by political affiliations rather than leadership capability.
Market vendor Rose Namukasa shared her disappointment over Nalukoola’s actions. She revealed many traders now wish they had maintained Nambi’s leadership.
