Kitagwenda District – Police in Kitagwenda District have arrested Amarakutunga Levi, a musician and male councillor representing persons with disabilities, in connection with the alleged ritual murder of a 4-year-old child from Nyaruhanda Village.
According to preliminary police reports, the child went missing on March 16, 2025, after being sent to a neighbor’s house. The following morning, the child’s body was discovered in a nearby bush.
The investigation involved the K-9 unit, which traced a scent leading to Levi’s home, located approximately 300 meters from where the body was found. During the search, authorities recovered a bloodstained panga (machete) about 200 meters from the scene.
Further examination of Levi’s home uncovered additional evidence, including a bucket filled with water containing bloodstained clothes and blood smears on the wall of one of the rooms.
Police have not yet determined the motive behind the murder, and investigations are ongoing. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the safety of children and the alleged involvement of a public figure in such a heinous crime.
Authorities have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
