Butebo, (UG):- The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Monica Musenero has made his stand public about her contesting for a parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 2026 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Mbale Express TV on Monday, Dr Musenero revealed that she has no intentions of contesting for any political position in Butebo or any other parts of Uganda.

“I want to make this clear, I am not going to contest for any position in 2026,” the decorated scientist told the Mbale-based channel.

Pressed to reveal why her decision, Musenero explained that the work she is doing is too hectic to mix it with politics.

“The assignment I have on the table is too huge, I don’t want to mix the two. If I am to contest, I will spend two years mobilizing for votes and yet we have issues that need me to work for 20 hours a day,” she stressed.

The Minister also noted that she made the president aware of her decision. “Even the President is aware of this and he gave me a go-ahead, so he is okay with it.“

Dr Musenero further mobilized the masses to vote for the president come 2026, saying; “Do for me one thing, vote Mzee and he will vote for me.”

“Because I have one voter, if you vote for him, he will vote for me. “

This week on Thursday, August 22, the minister will hold a mega Thanksgiving ceremony in Butebo District at Petete Primary School Grounds to celebrate her 30+ years of remarkable service to the country and people of Butebo.

At the event, President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest but a science exhibition from various innovators across the district will start from today, August 20 until Thursday, the main day of the event.

Dr Musenero appealed for unity and a huge turnout from the people of Butebo ahead of the President’s visit to the Bukedi region.
