MPs to visit Jacob Oulanyah’s grave

Posted on

Oulanyah’s passing was followed by a state burial at his ancestral home in Omoro District, where many dignitaries and citizens paid their respects.

His journey to Seattle for treatment earlier that year had attracted significant public attention and debate, especially regarding the costs involved and the lack of advanced medical facilities within Uganda.

The upcoming regional parliamentary session in Gulu is scheduled from August 26 to September 1, with plenary meetings to be held on August 28 and 29. President Museveni is expected to officially open the sessions.

During her visit to Gulu, Speaker Among will also inaugurate a medical camp at Pece Primary School and distribute donated items to local schools, including Gulu Prisons Primary School. Additionally, she plans to meet with local boda boda riders and market women, emphasizing her commitment to community engagement and support.

The regional sitting in Gulu will be one of several planned across Uganda, aimed at bringing parliamentary activities closer to the people.

These sessions, however, have faced criticism from some youth groups, who recently protested in Jinja, alleging corruption and misuse of resources by parliamentary officials
