Miria Matembe calls appointment of Kenzo, Nyamutoro to senior govt jobs ‘nonsense’

She also highlighted other appointments, including Kenzo’s wife, Phiona Nyamutoro, who holds a ministerial position, as well as musicians Catherine Kusasira and Full Figure.

Matembe, a strong advocate for gender equality, said, “Yesterday I heard that Eddy Kenzo, senior presidential advisor! I’ve never known people who are appointed at the highest position when they have never even done anything in that field… to–to gain experience.

“You promote people when they’ve worked from down to the top. But you find Eddy Kenzo – presidential advisor, his woman – a minister. all this nonsense. All this nonsense into this country. Do you remember Big Figure [Instead of Full Figure]… Do you remember somebody called Kusasira [Catherine]. [Catherine and Figure were appointed presidential assistants in 2019.]

“This president Museveni who keeps appointment people into positions of senior presidential advisor. Getting all the vehicles. Getting all the resources. Getting all these facilities which they get for doing nothing and be called presidential advisor… For what?!”

Phiona Nyamutoro, noted by Matembe, is making strides in Ugandan politics, currently serving as the National Female Youth Member of Parliament.

She was also appointed as the Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, a role she took on as of March 22, 2024.

Eddy Kenzo, known for his musical hits and influence in Uganda, was officially appointed as a senior presidential advisor on creatives by President Museveni on August 21.
