MBALE CITY

Police in Mbale city on Tuesday, 20th August, 2024 arrested City Assistant Engineer in charge of Industrial City Division for buildings.

Anthony Wanasolo was arrested on the orders of the Mbale RCC, Asumin Nasike during a public Baraza held at Naboa Road after he failed to explain how a storied structure was being constructed on the main sewage line and main water channel which takes away storm and rain water from the city center.

Earlier, locals raised their concerns about the ongoing construction of the storied new building located along Market street road behind KCB bank yet the first building which was constructed at the same spot was brought down by Mbale city authorities in February, 2024 because it was constructed at the main sewage line.

In response Nasike tasked Edison Kasadha, the Mbale City Senior Engineer to respond to the concerns raised by the locals.

Kasadha moved in front and also tasked the responsible engineers from their respective dockets to come and give answers since they were supervisors at city division level.

Wanasolo was first called to respond but he failed to give the expected answer to convince the audience about why construction of the new building is ongoing yet it’s on main water channel.

Immediately the RCC Nasike called manpower from Mbale CPS who took Wanasolo for more questioning.

Meanwhile, police is also on the hunt for his colleague, Michael Kiboma in charge of roads at Northern city Division over corruption allegations.

Locals also raised concerns over shoddy works done at Nakaloke road yet 2 billion shillings which government allocated on it for construction was enough to do good work.

After police had taken Wanasolo, Kasadha again asked Michael Kiboma to come and give an explanation to the public about shoddy works at Nakaloke road.

They discovered later that Kiboma was nowhere to be seen after disappearing when he saw police taking the colleague.

The RCC with bitter face asked police to hunt for Kiboma until they arrest him and be prosecuted for misusing public funds which were meant to tarmac over 4Kms of the Nakaloke road in finical year 2023/24.

Nasike says that with power she was entrusted by the president and the corruption war which has been opened by the president, she is not going to tolerate anybody who will be found playing around with public money.

James Kutosi the Mbale city public relations officer confirmed to our reporter this morning Wednesday on phone that Wanasolo was later released on police bond yesterday late evening as investigations continue.
