MARTHA AHUMUZA DEATH: Male Friend She Drank with Up to 3:30am ‘Found Innocent, Released’

Mezo Noir Club, a hangout based in Kololo, has announced that its staff members, who were arrested in connection with the death of Martha Ahumuza Murari, have been released. Among those detained was a male friend and staff member who had been drinking with Ahumuza until 3am, according to police.

The club informed its clients that the investigation has cleared its staff of any wrongdoing, and they are no longer in police custody. Mezo Noir management expressed their condolences to the family and friends of Ahumuza, acknowledging the loss of a young and valued client.

The management dismissed any conflicting reports about their staff as mere rumors in the media, labeling them as false, malicious, and unfounded, urging the public to disregard such information.

Following the incident, Mezo Noir temporarily closed its doors to allow the Uganda Police and relevant justice sector stakeholders to conduct their investigations. With the staff now exonerated, the club is preparing to reopen, committed to maintaining safety and high standards in the entertainment industry. They plan to announce the exact reopening date soon, assuring clients it will be shortly.

Ahumuza’s death last month, after reportedly drinking with a male friend at the Kololo bar, was initially suspected to be a case of poisoning, though no definitive cause has been established. Police had noted that Ahumuza was with the cashier until 3:30am, and two brothers were also detained in connection with the incident.

At Ahumuza’s burial, her father expressed his determination to uncover the true cause of his daughter’s death, vowing to pursue the matter relentlessly, regardless of the cost.
