The Parish Chief of Bunangubu Parish and Bunangubu PDM SACCO Chairperson in Manafwa District are cooling off at Bubulo government prisons on allegations of stealing Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.

Khamale Michael, Parish Chief and Wakuma David, SACCO Chairperson were on Thursday, 15th August, 2024 arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court of Manafwa, on charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Obtaining Money by False Pretense and Theft of PDM funds.

The duo was subsequently sent on remand until 26th August, 2024 when they will reappear in court for mention of their cases.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations and arrests, the accused and others still at large, between the month of February and July 2024 at Bunangabu Parish, Manafwa District, conspired to illegally demand and collect millions of shillings from hundreds of beneficiaries of Bunangabu PDM SACCO as a condition for them to benefit from PDM funds.

The two allegedly went ahead and stole some of the money meant for beneficiaries although part of the money has already been recovered from them.
