Man Narrates Selling Kidney to Buy Motorbike, Pay off Mum’s Loan: “I Have No Money

Kampala, Uganda — Poverty drove a young man identified only as Eric into making a life-altering decision — selling his kidney in exchange for money. But today, the boda boda rider says the sacrifice has left him with more regret than relief.

Eric revealed that he sold the organ at a local hospital after years of financial struggles weighed him down. With the money he received, he bought a motorbike to start work, cleared his mother’s debts, and even purchased a television set for her. For a brief moment, it looked like his life was turning around.

But the financial breakthrough was short-lived. Eric admitted that the money he earned from the deal was too little and did not create the lasting change he had hoped for.

“I thought selling my kidney would solve my problems once and for all, but I was wrong. The money finished quickly, and now I am left struggling. If I could turn back time, I would never do it,” he said.

Eric now warns others against considering the same path, describing it as a decision filled with regret. He stressed that no amount of money is worth risking one’s health and future.

His heartbreaking confession highlights the harsh realities of poverty in Uganda, where desperation often drives young people into dangerous and irreversible choices.

As Eric continues to battle with the consequences of his decision, he pleads with authorities to address the growing challenges of youth unemployment and poverty that push vulnerable individuals into such extreme actions.
