Paris, KY – In a dramatic crime spree, Cheikh Gueye, 35, was arrested Wednesday after allegedly robbing nearly $8,000 from two banks in Paris, Kentucky, while wielding a toy gun. The Paris Police Department reported that Gueye also faced charges for resisting arrest and is suspected of attempting a third bank robbery in Georgetown earlier the same day.
Witnesses at one of the banks said Gueye handed over a threatening note, demanding money and threatening lives, according to WKYT. As authorities were investigating, news of another bank robbery emerged. Gueye was apprehended at a nearby grocery store, where officers discovered his weapon was fake. He told detectives, “it was just a game,” WKYT reported.
